XDA Mini

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

After a lot of online and in store browsing, I have finally found the perfect phone. I love anything gadedzy and after many, compact, colorful phones, I’ve finally found what I’ve been looking for. The XDA Mini has all the features needed to fill my gadget craze. For now. What I like the most about it is that it’s not too compact. Nothing worse than a small screen on a phone. With all this new great technology, a big fancy screen is just what you need to fully enjoy all these features. The touch screen is great, lets you maneuver around the Windows mobile 5.0 smoothly. But one of my favorite part is the keyboard which slides out from the side. Still gives you that total gadgetzy feeling, without getting in the way when you put it in your pocket. Here’s a list of the special features:

- Integrated wireless PDA with sliding QWERTY keyboard
- Quad Band phone (GSM 850/900/1800/1900)
- Built-in Bluetooth® 2.0
- Full colour Internet browsing
- GPRS class B Multislot class 10/EDGE
- Integrated Wireless LAN
- Mini SD card slot
- Instant Message (IM), short / long message (TXT) and multimedia message service (MMS)
- 1.3 megapixel camera
- MPEG4 camcorder
- MP3 media player
- Speakerphone and voice recorder facility
- Removable and chargeable Lithium-Ion Polymer Battery, 1250 mAh
- Key lock support by software
- SIM Toolkit
- 240x320 pixel 2.8“ touchscreen
- Standby Time: up to 170 hours Talk Time: up to 4 hours

It’s a lot easier to browse the web with the touch screen, than it is with a normal mobile phone. The instant messaging is much easier as well. The program buttons on the phone make navigating between programs a breeze.

Software
- Windows® Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC
- Microsoft® Pocket Outlook: Inbox, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks
- Pocket Office: Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile
- Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer
- Microsoft Windows Media Player
- Microsoft Pictures
- Microsoft MSN Messenger
- Microsoft ActiveSync
- Calculator
- Voice Notes
- Photo Contact ID
- MMS
- Wireless modem for USB, Bluetooth and IR
- Wireless data manager (UMTS/GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g)
- Zip
- Camera/Camcorder
- Voice Dialer
- Games

Great software on here, it’s like holding your desktop in your hand. It’s great because you can run all your Microsoft Office programs on it. Slideshows look really good and it’s not even that complex to use the spreadsheet. The touch screen making this as simple as possible. And Windows Media Player is sure to keep you entertained on a long train ride home. Yeah the camera is perhaps not so great, but it’ll do. I mean this phone lets you carry My Documents around with you… it can’t be perfect after all!

Hardware
- Processor Type: TI OMAP 850 200 MHz
- 64 MB SDRAM, 128 MB ROM
- 39-key QWERTY keyboard
- 2.8” transflective 64K colour LCD screen

With all these great features, this is the perfect companion for taking work on the road with you, entertainment or if you’re just addicted to technology like I am. It’s pricy, so definitely go on contract, it’s worth it.

Happy shopping!
