BlackBerry Curve 8300
Wednesday, November 07, 2007The hunt for my new
PDA is still on. As I stated in a previous post, the
Nokia E90 is definitely the PDA I want, but as it happens, it is just too expensive, even if taken on a mobile phone contract, so now I am looking at the BlackBerry Curve 8300, which I must admit, was my first choice, before I spotted Nokia’s new E90.
My first PDA was the
XDA Mini, so I am quite excited about using a BlackBerry for the first time. When I went to my local mobile phone provider a few weeks back, I was quite surprised at how small the BlackBerry Curve 8300 is and light too. I had done lots of research on it online, watched lots of demo videos and was actually expecting something a little bigger. I prefer to have a bigger PDA to be honest, than something too small. A decent sized
QWERTY keyboard and a screen big enough for me to send and receive email and go online with. Oh and the trackball is great, makes it so much easier to navigate. I read somewhere that the BlackBerry Curve 8300 is ideal for people who require a high level of connectivity, while on the move. Lol Well I suppose I don’t necessarily
require it, but I most definitely want it!

I’m not too fussed about a camera, I don’t usually need it, but a decent camera is always handy, so this 2 Megapixel camera is quite good. There is a media player, which I admit I don’t use too often, but still prefer to have, especially if used on the move and the fact that it has expandable memory is great, if you need to double it as an MP3 player, which I sometimes do, mostly while travelling. Only problem I seem to have with PDA’s and memory is that they use micro SD memory cards, where as most of our other devices use the standard SD cards, so I have to buy an additional one for the
PDA.
As you can sync the BlackBerry Curve 8300 with your PC, you can take your contacts, diary and notes with you. Also, the messenger feature can be quite handy. I had a look at all the demo videos and pop3 email seems easy enough to set up. It has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPRS, which seems to meet my specs just fine. With up to 4 hours talk time and 400 hours standby time, there’s lots of time to play around with it. I look forward to finally getting my hands on my very own BlackBerry Curve 8300
