Rechargeable Wireless Laser Mouse with Docking Sta

Monday, January 14, 2008

This is such a lovely time of year. With Christmas just passing and my birthday coming up, it usually means I get spoiled a little more than usual Along with a bigger graphics card so that my PC can keep up with the latest Sims 2: Freetime expansion pack, my better half also recently got me a new Rechargeable Wireless Laser Mouse. A very nice mouse, great design and all the specs I want in a mouse.

The Rechargeable Wireless Laser Mouse is, as the name says, wireless and uses laser technology. The problem with wireless computer mice is that their battery life does not last. I got a wireless keyboard and mouse set about a year ago as well, but gave up trying to use the mouse, because the batteries just could not keep up. I always figured that a wireless mouse with a recharging docking station would work out better.

The Rechargeable Wireless Laser Mouse has 9 buttons, 4 of which you can configure for shortcuts, how ever you want. The included software is easy to install and will easily allow you to assign the keys. You have to recharge the mouse for about 10 hours before you can first use it, via the docking station which has to be attached to a USB port. Of course, your PC has to be on for it to charge. I suggest leaving it through the night, while your PC defrags or something. After that, they say that when ever your mouse starts to act up, it needs charging and should be charged for around 8 hours at a time, as not to damage the battery life. But it’s a tricky business. The mouse will in actual fact need charging every day. Ideally, every night. But you shouldn’t have to keep your PC on for 24 hours just so the Rechargeable Wireless Laser Mouse can charge. Ok, well, I guess I should say that I use my PC all day, as I work on it at home. So what I do, is while I’m not at my desk, I leave the mouse on the docking station, letting it charge.

It seems this battery life is a problem with wireless computer mice, where as the keyboards seem to last a lot longer.

Features:

- 2.4Ghz Radio Technology
- 1600DPI Laser engine
- 9 Button quick access with Unique ball scroll
- USB Rechargable Cradle Included
- Ergonomic Design

The mouse is great, I’m quite happy with it. Took a while to get use to the sensitivity of a laser mouse, but I’m terribly happy with it. There is one thing which you should remember too, I had to get rid of my mouse pad, because the laser mouse is too sensitive to have any interference with it. Otherwise, you’ll have the mouse cursor moving of its own accord across your screen, bouncing about. Also, once in the cradle or docking station, charging, the cursor will bounce about the screen. Now, if you’re still using your PC, like watching a DVD or something on it and the cursor is in your way, a simple solution is to put a small, blank piece of white paper between the mouse pointer and the back of the docking station, this will stop the bouncing cursor.

Well this is definitely a great buy. You can get it for under £10 and as it’s not only a laser mouse but wireless too, absolutely great value for money. A wireless mouse obviously has its advantages, with the cluttered desks and annoying cables. My previous mouse, as great and reliable as it was, I absolutely loved it (it even started to wear where my hand rested on it), the cable was my only problem with it. With a new workstation type desk, there was just a constant tugging on the cable. And a 1600DPI laser engine makes for a superb gaming mouse.

A marvellous addition to my gaming experience.

Happy Shopping!
