Nabaztag - Wi-Fi rabbit
Monday, January 21, 2008I was sitting lost in though, a few days ago, realising that we’re almost in 2010. It got me thinking about all those futuristic sci-fi movies I watched as a kid and how kewl it all looked, to be able to have an ‘interactive’ house, you know, when you walk in through the front door and your door greets you… or something to that effect. I guess with 2010 around the corner, it feels to me that we’re finally breaking into that future which once seemed so far away.

Now we have internet fridges,
watch phones,
self vacuuming vacuum cleaners and some really great robots. So why not have a robot bunny to greet you when you come home? The Nabaztag - Wi-Fi rabbit is just that, a
Wi-Fi rabbit. All it needs is to be plugged into a power socket and access to a wireless internet connection – 802.11 B or G. As far as wireless security, it supports WEP and WPA.

What this cute and rather pricey Nabaztag - Wi-Fi rabbit does is basically act as a smart object and you can program it to be your desk buddy, or any type of buddy for that matter and it’ll give you regular weather updates, read RSS feeds and even act as your morning alarm clock. With the push of a button, you can give it voice commands. It will play MP3s and audio messages, these audio messages along with emails, can be sent to your Nabaztag - Wi-Fi rabbit via the website. Get your friends to mail your bunny or find other bunnies you’d like to mail. Email messages will be read by the Nabaztag - Wi-Fi rabbit, and then if any audio files were attached, he’ll play it. As your Nabaztag - Wi-Fi rabbit will have a constant connection to its website, you will be able to find lots of different things the Nabaztag - Wi-Fi rabbit can do for you.
It’s a cute gadget and I think fun to have, but it’s still a little too expensive, costing close to £90. But if these prices start to drop, I might consider one for myself. I like how you can customise the look of the actual Rabbit, by buying different colour ears. Did I mention the ears move about and the Rabbits body lights up while it’s doing its bunny thing?
