WowWee, a great company and creators of toy robots such as the Dragonfly Robot, RoboRaptor, RoboSapien and RoboReptile has done it again and will not only be entertaining kids this year with the release of their Rovio Robot, but it is going to be a must have for any self respecting geek

The Rovio Robot is a robot which can be controlled with any device with an internet connection, even your mobile phone. But what makes the Rovio Robot different from other robots is that it features a Wi-Fi webcam with a mic. This means that you can control the Rovio Robot from anywhere in the world, as long as the Rovio Robot is able to get a Wi-Fi connection and you can see what ever the Rovio Robot is seeing. As there is a mic also, this means you can now communicate with anyone in the vicinity of the Rovio Robot. Great way to keep an eye on those teenagers at home. Or I suppose, you could keep your pets company if no one else is home

Either way, what ever you’re gona use it for, this device is going to be great. I am definitely gona get one as soon as it’s released. As you only need an internet connection on your side, to control the Rovio Robot, you can do this from any device from your PC, cellphone, PDA or even gaming console. The Rovio Robot has smooth movements and is bulky enough to tackle those fluffy carpets.

The Rovio Robot also NorthStar, which is a mini GPS really. This means by just a click of a button, the Rovio Robot will find it’s way back to it’s charging dock, without you having to steer it there. But its GPS will navigate the Rovio Robot around objects and help it avoid any nasty falls should it encounter a staircase.

From vacuum cleaners to sentry like robots, it seems we’re slowly, but surely, creating a sci-fi type of future for ourselves. I for one, cannot wait for this Rovio Robot, I’m still not too sure what I’ll be using it for… but that really doesn’t matter
