SanDisk Sansa TakeTV Video Player

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

My significant other and I are pretty good on our computers and in general, with most electronic devices. If anything, I prefer to view videos, photos and anything else on my PC. Well yes I suppose it helps to have a really large monitor. Anyway, when ever we’re on holiday, visiting the family, I can’t help but get annoyed at my grandmother when she gets annoyed at us for the fact that we’re always taking photos or showing photos even to everyone, mostly because we’re doing it directly from our camera or mobile phone. Unlike most of our family, she prefers to see a photo in the form of a piece of paper and a video on a TV. I did take loads of family photos and used them as her screen saver which she loved, but she really only uses her PC for solitaire and casino games, the poor things is so old it takes for ever to boot up. Using that to show her any new photos or videos would be pretty hard, I don’t even know if it’s USB ports are working.

Well the solution to this is always having to put photos and videos on a disk, but again, she’s old fashioned and doesn’t rent a lot of movies, so only has a video machine. Oh yes I’ve considered buying her a DVD player, but I really don’t think she’d let anyone near the TV to set it up… we were barely allowed to touch the remotes growing up So I stumbled across the SanDisk Sansa TakeTV Video Player which I thought might be a good solution to our little dilemma. It’s a USB flash drive which you plug into your PC and can copy your files onto it, then after that you just pop it into the TV cradle and press play. There’s an included remote control.

How it works is you connect the cradle itself to the TV and once you’ve done that you’re pretty much set up. Because the TakeTV Video Player itself has USB 2.0 and so you can just plug it into any PC or laptop to copy files and when ever you want to view it on your TV, just place it on the cradle. The remote allows for easy navigation through your files.

It sounds simple enough doesn’t it, now all I have to do is convince my gran to let me hook up the SanDisk Sansa TakeTV Video Player’s cradle to her television and hope and pray nothing goes wrong cause she will then definitely never let me touch it again It’s not too expensive, would make for a good gift I think and one that the whole family can enjoy too. Now, seeing as I have such a large family, I should consider very carefully who I’m going to buy one for and who doesn’t get one… or just save myself the trouble and buy one for everyone! Although, perhaps just getting her a USB digital photo frame might do the trick too

Happy Shopping!
