N52 SpeedPad

Focussing most of my blog entries on gaming gadgets lately, which I only just noticed, I think the N52 SpeedPad is a good addition. The second of it’s line, predecessor of the N50, it has some great features and will definitely make your gaming experience more efficient. For those of you who have never used a device like this before, it is basically one small device which has around 104 programmable functions which easily fits into your keyboard hand, giving you faster access which should improve your response time. It should totally replace your keyboard for first and third person shooters. There are 14 programmable keys, scroll wheel, directional pad and thumb buttons. It fits as easily as your mouse does in your right hand and I don’t think will take all too long to get the hang of.

Setting up the N52 SpeedPad is reasonably easy. You can program it into each game, separately by using profiles. But the N52 SpeedPad has one very handy feature which I haven’t seen before. It allows you to create profiles, in your existing profiles which basically allows different programmed buttons for different character classes. As separate characters have different features and abilities. These are called shift states, there are four shift states and just so you don’t get confused, there is a corresponding LED for each shift state, on the bottom left corner of the N52 SpeedPad.
The only draw back with the N52 SpeedPad, for me, is that it’s targeted at 1st and 3rd person shooter games, you can assign it to any game, like my favourite strategy games, but it’s just more efficient with the shooters.
I recommend the N52 SpeedPad for the avid gamers, it makes a great addition for any geek
