Everywhere you go these days, you see people buying camcorders and I find myself wondering why do people still buy camcorders if a standard digital camera has a built in video mode. I have always seen hordes of tourists with a digital camera strapped around their neck and a big bag for their camcorder. Is the need to be directors of our own memories become an addiction for better quality digital videos? I will never know why people flock to computer stores to get their hands on a proper camcorder but I did find a sweet piece of equipment made by Sony.

The Sony AVCHD HDR-CX7 is the first camcorder to record on their Memory Stick Duo Pro in High Definition quality which makes the camcorder much smaller as there is no need for a hard drive or DVD writer. Sony made the Sony AVCHD HDR-7 ultra-lightweight and compact for your convenience to carry around. It also boasts a nice 2’7 inch wide LCD screen with a touch panel designed with Swivel Screen technology to allow you view your recording at any angle.

You can record videos in both High Definition and Standard Definition using the Memory Stick Duo in the Sony AVCHD HDR-CX7. The Sony camcorder has 10x Optical Zoon and 20x Digital Zoom plus you can take 4.6MP stills as well. The best feature for me out of them all is the ability to put all the fancy new controls on auto mode and let the camera do all the magic while you enjoy the moment. I am no buff when it comes to exploring all the features on a camcorder but I would like to know what they are and let my own curiosity take over when I feel like I am in control of the videos being recorded.
