My Sims
Wednesday, October 03, 2007Ok so I thought it time to start reviewing some of the games I play. After all, so many of my gadgets are dedicated for hours of non stop gaming, the games themselves should be reviewed too. My latest addition, is Wii’s My Sims. Now I’m an absolute fan of
The Sims and of course, The Sims 2. I think
EA is one of the 2 best out there (the other, of course, being
Blizzard who rock) and I’m always gona be supporting their games. Also, with our recent-ish purchase of our
Wii, it’s not always easy to find a console game which I like and will keep on playing. Now, I’ve only played My Sims for a couple of hours so far, but I thought I’d share what I think of it thus far.

As the
Wii uses the infrared controller so you can point to objects on the screen, it’s pretty kewl technology don’t get me wrong, but it’s exhausting. It’s much less taxing to play
WoW on my PC, as my pointing hand, gets to rest on the table. Anyway, that aside I really like the game. I guess it’s not much for the hardcore gamer who likes action and shoot ‘em ups, but I think a large number of The Sims fans will like it. It’s really cute, the characters are cute, I like how you can customize your voice (for them to speak Simlish that is) and I like the graphics. I guess it just feels like it’s a nice change from the more recent action packed games whose graphics are at times hard to tell from reality.

Basically you use both your controllers, the nunchuck, to do little tasks in this new town. The town is a little run down and it’s up to you to revive it again. The more tasks you do, the more stars you get, the more people will return to the once thriving little town. You can re-design everything if you want. There’s also a workshop, which allows you to make objects, from blueprints, but I must say I’m not too fond of this as it’s pretty hard on my pointing hand. There are a few areas in this world which you get to explore, one at a time. At first they’ll be boarded off, but once you upgrade to the next star, the major will give you the crowbar feature which will enable you to open up anyone of them you wish. There are lots of little treasures and surprises hidden about the town.

So far, so good. Oh yes, there is one other thing which is a little frustrating. The load time. Just like in the
PSP version of The Sims 2, the load time is killer. It needs to load every time you go in and out of a building and ok yes, the graphics require a lot, but it doesn’t make it any less frustrating. Just like the PC version of The Sims 2, the loading time is frustrating.

Happy Shopping!
